Introduction
As a recommended High House wedding photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing many weddings at this beautiful Essex venue. High House Weddings is one of my favourite places to photograph — from the historic barn to the elegant new Orangery and gardens — and knowing the venue so well allows me to create relaxed, natural images while making the most of every space throughout the day.

Wedding Ceremonies at High House
One of the many things I love about this venue is that they have two amazing choices for your wedding ceremony. And if I’m honest, If I were getting married, I would find it difficult to choose which location to pick for the nuptials. Getting married outside is pretty special and when you are surrounded by the calming countryside that High House brings, it’s difficult to imagine a better space to exchange your vows in the summertime. However, having said that, you’ve got to check out the High House barn. It is a Grade ll listed barn which has been fully restored and packed with character, and it dates back to 1750. From a photographers perspective it’s wonderful because it’s so spacious and full of natural light and couples love it because you don’t need to add any of your own decoration, the ceiling decor is kept in place, so it just looks picture perfect from the moment you walk down the aisle.

The Dressing Room
I have had people think that my High house getting ready photos are from some of the weddings that I’ve photographed in Italy or abroad. The dressing room is in a private garden, where you and your squad can get ready away from the arriving guests in a tailor-made space. It’s bright and airy, so ideal for hair and makeup preparations. The surrounding private garden and pool is perfect to grab a few photos before you prepare to head to the ceremony.

The Courtyard
After the actual wedding ceremony and once you are officially married, it’s time to celebrate and at High House, there is a perfect courtyard area with a stable style bar. With the backdrop of the pond and gardens, it’s such a lovely area to have a drink with your guests and enjoy your time together. As a wedding photographer, I find the willow tree and bridge makes a perfect backdrop for group photos too.

The Gardens at High House
High House is set in over six acres of grounds, which are available for you and your guests to enjoy. I always find that the gardens are immaculately kept and there are so many good places to use for photographs. They also have an extensive vineyard which can be used for couple shots, and it looks amazing when the sun is going down.

Wedding Reception and party in the orangery
Celebrate in style! The orangery at High House provides the perfect space for your wedding meal and evening party. I’ve seen various different layouts and seating arrangements in the orangery to accommodate different numbers of guests and tastes, so it’s worth speaking to the lovely team at High House to discuss your requirements and plan the perfect ambience to wow your guests. The orangery overlooks the gardens and has an adjoining patio area which is great in the summer when it’s hot, so guests can enjoy the inside and out. I think it works really well because there is plenty of room for everyone to hit the dance floor or relax and sample the evening food on the tables, whilst still enjoying the atmosphere. The Orangery offers a bright, elegant space for wedding receptions while still feeling connected to the beautiful grounds surrounding the venue.
As a High House wedding photographer, I love how clean and modern the Orangery feels, while still sitting perfectly alongside the character of the historic barn. It photographs beautifully in all light conditions and provides a brilliant backdrop for speeches, first dances and the party atmosphere later on.
The layout flows seamlessly from the barn into the Orangery, meaning your day feels relaxed and unbroken, ideal for guests and great for capturing natural, candid moments throughout the evening.

We had so many comments from our guests about what an amazing photographer John is, and how he made everyone feel at ease and comfortable, which we feel is why our photos turned out as perfectly as they did.
